Presentation Description: Discuss J-1 English proficiency policies that improve exchange visitor wellbeing and foster sustainable programs. Perspectives will be shared based on hundred of conversations with ISSS staff and state department officials. Data-driven portions of the presentation will be sharing results of industry-wide surveys of host institutions and thousands of responses from exchange visitors.

Understand overall industry trends in how universities are meeting English proficiency requirements for exchange visitors.
Understand the need for English proficiency policies that provide objective, consistent, sustainable and safe exchange visitors programs.
Apply a framework for evaluating potential policies. Be able to articulate advantages to garner stakeholder support.
