Marisa Atencio's IE career spans 25 years across functional areas. She is Assistant Dean & Director for Global Education at Oglethorpe University in Atlanta, GA. She is an active member volunteer with NAFSA (2001) holding leadership positions including Region VII GA Representative (present), Scholar Regulatory Ombusdperson (2016-2018), Trainer Corps (2012-Present), Travel subcommittee (2013-2016), and the NAFSA Academy (2007). She has led workshops, sessions, or posters at regional and national international education and higher education conferences. Her study abroad in Venezuela 25 years ago fuels her desire to be an advocate for students as they pursue their personal and academic goals.
