Originally from Puerto Rico, Dr. Rios moved to the U.S. in 1994. This sparked his passion for languages, which led to studying French and Italian. He holds a Bachelors in French Education, Masters in Multicultural/Multilingual Education with TESOL concentration, and PhD in Foreign/Second Language Teaching. In 2008 he was nominated for the Governor's Excellence in Education Award, in 2009 he received the Florida Teacher of Promise Award, and in 2010 the Teacher of the Year Award. He taught in the IB Program, for four years before joining the Center for Intensive English Studies at Florida State University in 2013!
