Change of Status Applicants: DSO, Legal Counsel, & USCIS Perspectives

Presentation Description: Hear from a panel of stakeholders in the Change of Status process: School/DSO and Immigration Attorney. Learn how to best serve students seeking to change to F1 status within the US and where DSO responsibilities begin and end. USCIS Resources and information will be included.

Learning Objectives:

  • After this panel, attendees will be able to define where the role of DSO begins and ends in the process of advising change of status to F1 students.
  • During this panel, attendees will hear about the legal advise that should be given by a qualified immigration attorney and not a DSO.
  • After this panel, attendees will take away a basic resource list to provide to prospective change of status to F1 students including USCIS resources.
