Successfully Implementing Internal Policies for Employment-based Green Cards

Presentation Description: This presentation will delve into the best practices and strategies for higher ed professionals to develop successful green card sponsorship policies for foreign faculty and staff members. Strategic policies that integrate institutional concerns while also the importance of immigration considerations along with ethical issues are critical to setting expectations and streamlining an effective policy with limited risks that balance the interests of both the institution and international employees.

Learning Objectives:

  • During this presentation, attendees will gain a clear understanding of the importance in implementing effective and strategic green card sponsorship policies internally.
  • During this presentation, attendees will learn the different pathways to sponsorship & when, who & how to initiate those based on immigration-related concerns and institutional needs (legal, financial, & recruitment/retention).
