Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship (TLS)
Second language learning theories prioritize writing and reading over listening comprehension, and in real-world and formal classroom applications, this can cause significant difficulties for the academic outcomes of international students who are not native English speakers. The importance of listening, which makes language acquisition faster is often overlooked in these settings. This impacts the work of educators and researchers who identify common challenges and effective coping strategies for the academic success and cultural integration of international students.
